Here’s a 1970s clip -- the third of three -- showing a busy day at an American diner.

Begins with a hostess seating customers and handing them menus. In the same shot, a waitress brings food to some customers.

The hostess speaks to an African-American man at her podium. Seems like he’s asking the hostess about how long the wait is.

Two male bussers -- or busboys -- clean a table. Utensils are laid on a white napkin. Glasses of iced water are placed next to the utensils, all of which are on a long table. A coffee cup is turned upright on a saucer.

Many plates of food sit under warmers on a high shelf or counter, which is between the kitchen and the area where waiters and waitresses are waiting and preparing for their customers' meals.

An Hispanic-looking waitress places used utensils in a plastic bin for dirty dishes. A black waitress is hunched over, doing something off screen.

A busser pushes a cart that’s filled with dirty dishes.

Kitchen chefs are busy in the kitchen, making meals. Several waitresses take just-made meals from the kitchen shelf. The black waitress pours a white sauce or soup, like chowder, into a small white ramekin. The woman’s hands and arms are filled with a table’s meal.

The Hispanic-looking waitress greets a customer at the bar with her scratch pad and pencil at the ready. She writes on her pad where we see her scribblings, including “ham sand,” which is likely short for ham sandwich. She also writes down “ap pie,” likely short for apple pie.

Half-eaten plates are added to a black bin with dirty dishes. The black bin is pushed away on a cart.

The camera follows a busser who is behind the counter and picking up cups and saucers for a customer’s table.

Dirty cups that are still filled with water are placed in a black bin with dirty dishes.

The African-American waitress offers a man another cup of coffee. The man appears to say “no”; he then checks his watch and then decides to leave the diner along with this colleague, a man wearing a light green cardigan sweater. Perhaps both men must return to work.  Before fully leaving their table, both men appear to leave the black waitress a tip -- several coins.

The Hispanic-looking waitress also offers a customer sitting at the bar counter a coffee refill, but the customer appears to say “no,” after which he stands up and leaves with his receipt in hand.

The black waitress appears to seat a man at a table. She then quickly walks off to her area behind the counter.

A chef places a just-prepared meal on the counter to be picked up. A waiter on the other side of the counter picks up this very meal, which is a sandwich.

A busser places clean utensils on a table.

A dirty plate, which has scraps of food, is placed in the black bin with dirty dishes.

A woman wearing a green sweater who is working the cash register takes money from a black customer. The same woman, a cashier, then takes a receipt or bill from a different customer.

A busser pushes in the seat at an empty table. The same busser and one of his colleagues gather dirty dishes in the dining area. They appear to be working quickly.

Bussers and a white waitress look busy behind the bar counter. The waitress puts a menu away.

The black waitress picks up another round of food for one of her customers, balancing plates on both arms.

A busser sets a table. Behind the busser, a table of men appear to be watching the busser and cheering him on.

The last shot shows people filling two empty tables, sitting down to review the diner's menu and order food.
