This 1993 clip captures the mood or vibe of Los Angeles following the Rodney King riots. The riots, which occurred in LA during the spring of 1992, were a result, if only in part, of four Los Angeles police officers being acquitted of using excessive force against African-American motorist Rodney King.

Clip begins with an unkempt Los Angeles street.

A young African-American woman speaks to the press about justice. She refers to the justice that has been served as the appetizer to a full-course meal, as if to suggest that even more justice will be forthcoming.

An LAPD squad car drives down an LA boulevard.

A group of black people sit on old armchairs on a sidewalk. One woman looks at her reflection in a small, hand-held mirror.

Young black male prisoner enters a court room.

A DJ in a KCRW radio studio discusses an impending mayoral vote in LA. A make-up artist puts foundation on a man’s face prior to Century Cable's broadcast of a panel discussion, perhaps a debate among mayoral candidates.

Mayoral candidate Michael Woo speaks. Richard “Dick” Riordan, the 39th mayor of Los Angeles, speaks.

The final shot is an aerial of downtown Los Angeles at or near dusk. Skyscrapers eclipse the setting sun.
