Here’s a super 8 home movie of Los Angeles in the summer of 1969.
Clip begins with a man and two women who appear to take part in a TV show; boom mics hang overhead.
The Hollywood Bowl appears mostly empty; a young man descends the Bowl’s long stairway.
There is POV driving through the Beverly Hills and Hollywood area, focused on homes, neighborhoods, and mansions. Cars pass the sign of the Beverly Hills Hotel. Palm trees seem to be on every block. There’s a street sign for the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Drive sit next to a bus stop sign.
A tracking shot of Los Angeles City Hall is followed by a shot of the intersection of Vine Street and Hollywood Boulevard, which is congested with traffic. On one corner of the intersection is a “Drug King,” which looks like a convenient store. Then there’s a shot of a sign for "The Brown Derby"; the sign sits atop a building. We then see the marquee sign of the Hollywood Pantages Theater.
The MGM Studio stands in the distance. Shows at least three of the Studio’s buildings.
Pedestrians stand at Vine Street and Hollywood Boulevard and cars make right or left turns. A black Volkswagen Beetle is seen at the intersection.
The clip ends with shots of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. People look at hand prints and foot prints of the stars, all of which is embedded in the sidewalk. Other people look at the stars on the so-called "Hollywood Walk of Fame."
