Here’s a commercial for Best Foods Mayonnaise from the late '60s to early '70s. 

People are dressed up at a house party -- the women are wearing dresses and diamonds, the men are wearing suits -- eating finger foods or hors d'oeuvres like chips and shrimp, and dipping them into mayo-based dips or sauces. The food is in fancy glassware. Candles are lit. And the lights are dim to make for a cozy evening party. 

A spoonful of Best Foods mayo is mixed with a reddish sauce, and a Best Foods jar is turned around to reveal two holiday recipes on the label for those wanting to use mayo in a dish or two for the Christmas holiday season.
