They walk to corner, wait to confirm that the car is driving out of sight before sticking out their thumbs to hitchhike. They stand and hitchhike at curb until a shiny, red Pontiac convertible drives up, driven by a well-dressed older man. He opens the passenger door and invites them into his car. He checks his watch as one of the girls hesitates and declines to get in. The car drives away and she begins to walk.
