Here’s a 1960s industrial clip showcasing a brand new law enforcement technology, mace, a kind of pepper spray that can be used to deter attackers.

A law enforcement officer demonstrates the mace on a volunteer. The officer sprays the mace in the man’s face; the man freezes, is blinded, puts his hands in his face as if about to cry, and falls slowly to the floor.

Includes interviews with Alan Litman, Technical Director of the mace technology, and David Craig, boss of the Pittsburgh Police Department.
