Here's silent 16mm home movie footage of a train trip through Nevada during the 1940s.
A train charges quickly past the camera. A locomotive is repositioned and later tested by engineers.
A train is idle in a small town. Businesses in the town include Hotel Menlo, Palace Hotel, Overland Hotel, Cafe De Luxe, Bud’s Liquors, Palace Club Inc., and Standard Stations Inc. One advertisement suggests that the town is in Reno.
People board and wait on an idling train. Once the train departs, passengers look out their windows, watching and admiring the passing landscapes. Cars drive beside the train, both in the town and countryside.
The train stops at a station in a deserted area. Passengers deboard and walk about. Soon, the train is traveling to another destination, occasionally passing homes, buildings, mountains, and empty plains.
