This clip contains footage of journalists: Mike Wallace, Walter Cronkite and Morton Dean.Begins with MS of journalist Mike Wallace on a bench, he discusses ‘grunts’ (combat troops) knowing more about the war then anyone else. MCU as he describes how by 1970 the dissension within the ranks was great, many were hooked on hard drugs, some were challenging orders, and fragging which are deliberate attacks on unpopular commanders. Cuts to Walter Cronkite who stands by 3 pictures entitled ‘1971’, he introduces Morton Dean. MCU of Dean describing the war, the thrust into Laos, and the challenge in Saigon.
