This news clip from the early ‘80s discusses some of the controversial beliefs on race held by skinheads. 

Begins with KKK members, some with shields, others with bats, fighting against an unknown opposition in an unknown suburban neighborhood. 

A group of skinheads at a park bench are interviewed about the white person’s plight in today’s society. One man complains about affirmative action, which he believes is unfair since it allows for racial preferences over merit. Another man says that the skinheads started in the 1960s and that they are race-oriented. They are, he says, white racists – meaning they favor the white race over other races. They also believe in hard work, the family, and fighting for their race, which they are willing to die for. 

Tom Metzger, a national leader in white supremacy circles, is interviewed. He says that when white kids are beat up in school by non-white kids and the white kids go home to tell their parents, these white parents don’t really care about the plight of their kids. The fathers won’t stand up for their children.

Skinheads stand near the entrance to a grocery store, handing out a skinhead publication called “W.A.R.,” also known as “White Aryan Resistance.” Most people appear uninterested in the publication; they give the publication a quick look over and walk away. One woman throws the publication into the trash; and the skinhead responds with a sarcastic, “Yeah, don’t be proud of your race.” 

Jon Metzger, the son of Tom, puts the W.A.R. newspaper under the windshield wiper of cars in the parking lot of a Los Angeles grocery store. An article on the front page of the publication reads, “SOUTH AFRICA WHITE REVOLT OF 1922.” 

A skinhead offers a copy of W.A.R. to an older, white security guard. The guard rejects the offer, saying that he doesn’t want to touch the publication. The skinhead who made the offer quickly responds, “Why? Are you ashamed of it? Are you ashamed of me?” The guard replies, "Yeah."

One skinhead says that the average black person is, genetically, not very smart. This explains why many blacks are bodybuilders or boxers, says the skinhead. 

Another skinhead says that whites are blamed by blacks for being the oppressors or enslavers of blacks. The skinhead say he’s a part of his family’s second generation, that his family was poor and didn’t own any slaves. The truth, the skinhead says, is in fact the very opposite: when blacks enter white neighborhoods, they rip off whites and rape their women. On the other hand, when whites enter black neighborhoods, whites get hurt.

Even though Metzger has a knack for confrontation, Metzger, the voiceover says, rejects violence – except as a last resort. Still, for Metzger, the voiceover says, it’s inevitable that whites will travel down a violent path. Metzger says that, if you look at history, when whites are pushed to extremes, whites can get very mean.
