Here's a clip from October 1987 showing (1) San Francisco 49ers walking to a meeting about an ongoing NFL-player strike, and (2) a press conference held by San Francisco 49er offensive linebacker Keith Fahnhorst (#71), who at the time was the team's player rep and a key union voice. This is clip 1 of 2. 

Clip begins with 49ers players walking into a building where a meeting will be held. All the players are wearing casual clothing. One player says to the camera, twice, "Hi mom, hi dad." Many of the players are tall and muscled.

We then see a group of reporters surrounding and posing questions to Keith Fahnhorst. He tells reporters that he's going to meet with the remaining 49ers players who have been out on strike, which has been a league-wide strike. The strike, he says, is now over.

Fahnhorst says that, according to management, any player who reported to work after the deadline, which was yesterday, won’t be paid this week.

Fahnhorst states that, under advisement of the union, players are reporting for work without an agreement in place, though the players won’t stay around if they’re not getting paid. Nor will they play on Sunday if they’re not getting paid.

Fahnhorst says that players will seek a settlement (i.e., a resolution of the differences between management and the players) through other avenues. He also says that the outcome of the talks (between management and the union) is disappointing, but if anything good came of it, it was that most of the players stuck together throughout.
