Here’s a home movie of Jamaica from the mid 1960s, shot by an American family on vacation.
Clip begins with a pan of a Jamaican coastline during the day. Coconut trees and heavy vegetation line the coast and cover the nearby mountain range.
A man wearing a white shirt travels up a rock-covered stream or brook.
From a boat that’s anchored off shore, we see homes and a few apartment buildings on the same Jamaican coast.
The boat approaches several rock formation that are covered with vegetation. Some of these rocks have caves, which the boat passes through. The camera captures the vegetation and rock on these rock formations.
Thatched huts stand on a beach.
A man sits in an isolated pool at the bottom of a waterfall and swims to the falling water.
A shirtless man carries large green bunches of bananas from a row boat that’s parked on a shore, moving the bananas higher up on the shore.
Two horses wander around in a small town, eating food found on the town's main dirt road.
The camera follows the water flowing down a very rocky hill.
A stone tower stands near a shore. At the top of the tower, a propeller-like weathervane spins.
An airplane floats on the ocean off the coast and moves forward slowly to some destination, perhaps a harbor.
The camera pans over a road that passes through a jungle-like area. A car drive away in the distance. Several homes and deteriorating buildings are seen from the road.
A white man wearing shades and swim trunks poses for the camera. He stands on the rocks of a waterfall, or a quasi-waterfall; trees and plants surround the area. He spreads his arms out as if he is about to fall and is trying to regain his balance.
People walk on a beach. Coconut trees line the beach and are seen in both the foreground and in the distance. A rowboat sits on the shore.
People, who are heavily shadowed, are at the quasi-waterfall, getting wet and playing in the water.
The white man seen earlier is floating in the ocean, waving at the camera. Two natives are floating in the water nearby.
