Here’s an 8mm home movie of a Jewish family spending a few days in the summer of 1952 in what appears to be Queens, New York. Specifically, they appear to be staying at the Edgemere section of Queen’s Rockaway Peninsula.
Begins with a woman in a swimsuit exiting her bungalow; she happens to be the main focus of this home movie. She is seen with her husband and sister on a sidewalk, ready for the beach. They visit a man in a nearby bungalow who is sitting on a covered patio with his son.
All three -- i.e., the husband and wife, and the wife's sister -- cross a street. The camera pans over a neighborhood of bungalows.
The woman and her family -- her husband, sister, and teenage son -- pose on a boardwalk during an early afternoon. Later, all four are seen outside a bungalow wearing different clothing for the beach; they briefly pose and model for the camera.
We see a wide shot of the beach, teeming with people wearing beach clothing -- bikinis, swim trunks, and the like. A number of people are sitting below large umbrellas on the beach. The woman and her sister and husband walk on the beach, searching for a place to sit.
The remaining set of shots are somewhat overblown, i.e. over-exposed with light. We see the woman, who now looks sunburned, posing outside near her bungalow with an older couple and an older woman. We also see her back at the boardwalk, posing with her family and a youngish woman in a black swimsuit.
