Clips of the Rajputs, cultivators of the Great Indian Desert. Two men in white clothes and turbans lead a camel through the desert. A cart with a high mound of dirt clumps piled onto it is harnessed to the camel. They trudge through an area that has sparse vegetation, then finally arrive at a small town. There are some trees, a dirt road, houses with thatched roofs. They unhook the cart from the camel and lead it to a hill. They attach another rope to the camel’s harness and lead the camel down the hill. The camel is powering a hoist that heaves a large pot of water up from a deep well. Men waiting at the top of the well dump the pot and the water cascades down a few stairs into a shallow trench that directs the water to an irrigation system.
