Here's footage from the 1910s that shows Marcus Garvey participating in a parade. 

Garvey was an African-American political activist and known as the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL, commonly known as UNIA).

The clip begins with a phalanx of black men in uniform, following one man's lead and marching on a street toward the camera. This is followed by a black men walking down a street with signs. 

We see groups of black people on the side of a street watching the procession. A long line of cars, with passengers carrying signs, drive by. Marcus Garvey is seated in one of the cars and is wearing a graduation cap; an American flag is beside him. He looks around and at the camera. 

Next, we see many black girls in white dresses marching. 

At the end of the clip, we see more spectators, pedestrians, and parts of the passing procession/parade.
