Here's an early '70s clip of life in the Midwest. In particular, the clip focuses on the southern part of Ohio -- specifically, on life in Ohio's Ross County.

The clip begins with a wide shot of a busy city street. Across the street hangs a banner that reads, “CITY WIDE EVANGELISTIC CRUSADE, SEPT. 4 thru 9, 7:30 NIGHTLY, WATT ST. TABERNACLE.” An even wider shot of the street shows a small town in the foreground with a large green forest standing in the distance.

We see an aerial over a suburban neighborhood.

A vast parking lot is part of a medium-sized mall. Store’s seen include: Woolworth’s, Big Bear, Penneys, Thrift Drugs, and Moore’s.

At her car in the mall's parking lot, an older woman is being helped with her groceries by a young man who likely works for the large grocery store.

A mother and daughter park their car and walk toward and enter a store at the mall. Both are wearing skirts and look very eager to shop. Inside the store, which appears to be a very large grocery store, people are using shopping carts as they travel down aisles. One man grabs paper goods from a shelf. A cashier rings up a woman at a check-out counter; the cash register appears to be mechanical and is large, metallic, and clunky.

The same mother and daughter from above unload their groceries from their shopping cart and place them into the trunk of their car. Two men nearby are also loading their cars with groceries.

Four kids ride their bicycles down an suburban street.

A family holds a picnic in their backyard. In the backyard, a man is cooking burgers, hotdogs, and possibly produce on an open grill. At least two picnic tables are filled with people eating. Several people are hanging their marshmallows over the grill and browning them.

People are playing volleyball in the backyard after lunch. And a little girl is sitting on a large red ball as she hangs on to the ball’s top handle, as if she’s riding a pony and trying not to fall off of it.

Teens hangout at a Dairy Queen’s parking lot in the evening. Some kids are drinking sodas or shakes, and some are eating mini ice cream sandwiches, which look like mini Oreos. Many kids are chatting with each other and simply hanging out.

A family hangs out in their living room, sitting on the sofa. They're quietly watching TV, the boob tube.

Storefronts are shown in a mostly deserted part of town. Only a few people are outside, walking around.

Several people are painting parts of buildings in the neighborhood.

We see a high-angled shot of an intersection in the city.

The next sequence of shots show aspects of a MEAD papers factory. We also see exterior shots of several industrial buildings of this company.

A crane picks-up a bunch of logs; it then drops the logs onto another pile of logs.

A tractor makes its way through a crop field, slowly but surely disseminating either fertilizer or seeds in its wake.

Another tractor pulls a large trailer that’s filled with hay.

A sign reads, “WE WELCOME ‘YOU’ To your COUNTY FAIR.” Above the sign is a smaller sign that reads, “ROSS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.”

A black car from the ‘20s or ’30s passes the camera. The car looks like it could be either a Packard or Cadillac.

A man rides a very tall, awkward bike: It's a bike with a front wheel that's roughly 4 feet in diameter and a back wheel that's roughly 1 foot in diameter.

A group of musicians are playing music under a gazebo. They’re all wearing matching red and white plaid clothing.

Crowds watch a youth climb a metal pole to retrieve a bill that’s attached to the pole’s top.

Two groups compete in a game of tug-of-war. Each group stands on the opposite sides of a river. People from one group are seen being pulled into the river, making a splash and getting wet.
