Here’s a late ‘60s clip of a Pentecostal service at a small church in West Virginia, part of the Bible Belt.
The clip focuses on people praying passionately, speaking in tongues, raising their arms to the heavens, speaking to the Lord, to Jesus, asking for God’s grace and forgiveness.
One woman is laying on the floor to pray. Many are kneeling, or looking downward, and looking solemn. Almost everyone praying has their eyes closed -- as if to focus all of their energy to reaching God through prayer.
An older gentleman offer his “testimony” to his fellow church members, speaking to those who will listen and who are not themselves busy with prayer as many are.
At least one person is playing music, specifically the guitar, as the praying goes on.
