Here’s a clip about the prisoner uprising that took place at New York’s Attica Prison in 1971. In the uprising, prisoners rebelled against the prison’s administration and leadership, forcing them to meet with the prisoners and their negotiating committee to secure basic human rights.
Clip begins with prisoners in jail cells, standing behind bars, their hands hanging solemnly out of some prison cells. In a close-up, one inmate's eyes dart back and forth. In a different close-up, another inmate looks at the camera from behind bars, his gaze one of quiet hostility, even rage.
Attica prisoners occupy Cell Block D during the period that the prisoners rebelled and rioted, seizing part of the prison, and taking hostages.
In the final shot, Black Panther party leader Bobby Seale speaks into a microphone and gives a “black power” salute.
