Here's a 1980 clip showing service workers rallying in San Francisco for better working conditions and pay. 

People march down a sidewalk with a sign that reads, “Fairmont workers demand a good contract." Behind the sign, people follow while playing instruments and carrying picket signs.  

The rally gathers in Union Square. An effigy or toy-like person made of sheets and pillows has signs pinned to it such as a dollar symbol, “Big business,” and “Hotel employee ASSO.” 

People play music and sing on a stage. A jacket for Local Union 2 reads “Bartenders & hotel & restaurant employees international union.”
