The therapist Carl Rogers conducts an interview with "Mr. Lynn," a patient frustrated by his homosexual tendencies. Lynn wonders if all of his "problems" (laziness, fear of trying new things, his homosexual impulses) might be tied together, or symptoms of some deeper problem. Lynn indicates that he cannot simply will himself to change.
